You are not alone

The stigma accompanying suicide can create a frightening, lonely, and debilitating existence. Whether you know someone who has died by suicide—or have attempted, yourself—the space for honest, heartfelt, and sensitive conversation about the topic is rare.

With the Stanley Sessions, we want to change that by providing visual and written art that will humanize survivors and bring awareness to the forefront.

Photography is a universal medium, so amateur photographer Whitney Saleski and the wonderful people at NAMI of Montgomery County, Ohio have organized these sessions—named after her father, Stanley Saleski, who died by suicide in October of 2014.

If you or a loved one (mother, father, sister, brother, spouse, partner, friend, etc.) have been affected by suicide, we encourage you to sit for a portrait.

Let’s help de-stigmatize suicide discussion through our stories.
